Mike, you're hilarious! Will definitely do the Rolex party again. The dates for XC schoolings for the KHP aren't released yet, nor are the dates for local schooling shows. I was just trying to get a jump on things. Wonderful suggestions! We'll definitely add to the calendar... Just always like to see if anyone's interested!

I'm wondering if you can fit in a tack sale/tack swap at one of the CEO clinics or horse trials. I know there are tons of people with tack out there they'd love to get rid of, and I'm always in the market for a new (to me) set of tack! It shouldn't be that hard to organize...what do you think?

I'm also all in favor of making "Team CEO HT" pennies for the shows. Just wait till I get down there and pass the bar...they'll be so pretty, we could make them yellow and green too...:D --Quin

Ooooh I love the idea of the tack sale/ swap meet! That would be a great idea!! And I think the pennies should have glitter on them in some fashion. :)

I wouldn't begin to know how to sew pennies... All aboard on that project! Great idea on the tack sale, too. Quin, will you be able to be there again this year? --Megan

What a great looking list of fun. I wish I didn't have to have real job! But maybe Norad and I can go away from home a time or two this year. And maybe we can stay home to help out here and support the team some of the time. I love the idea of a swap meet! and "Megan at Masterson" has a wonderful ring to it. 2008 will be a great year!

I was already thinking ahead to team challenge, and what fun it would be if we had a mother-daughter friendly competition: If we had one more mother to join me, Holly and Marion we could be the Team CEO Red Hot Mammas, with Eliza, Ali, Becca and ??? riding as the.....well, several names have come to mind, but my favorite is Team CEO Spoiled Brats---totally not accurate, but a cute name, and all in fun of course. Wish I could persuade my rock-climbing Erika to ride again and join us.. Thanks for making these cold days more bearable, dreaming about better days to come. And pennies should be easy...cold winter days are a good time to do that. Do you have a design in mind? --Annie

Okay, I don't want this discussion board to get carried away on just one topic...but I definitely plan to be back at *some* point this year, and I have been thinking about pennies..I think we could get some canvas or heavy cotton from a fabric store and get green bias tape (or we could make our own bias tape but that would take longer). We have horozontal tape along the bottom long enough to make ties and vertical tape to go over the shoulders. I figured we could do numbers in black, and have "Team CEO" in yellow, maybe, or yellow with green outline. Green outline might be better so the yellow shows up. I know there are computer programs that do iron-ons (and they look pretty good) or we could do pre-made iron on numbers, or we could even use t-shirt paint if we wanted to go really low-budget. Maybe I will get on that in the spring semester (before I get bogged down with studying for the bar this summer) and I'll send you a template. My sewing machine is definitely my best friend! How many do you think we would need? We could have a penny-making party where everyone could help cut out cotton and transfer numbers! What do you think?

Hey Megan,

Do you have that list of shows in a format that you could email out, like an Outlook calender, or an Excel spreadsheet, or even just a Word document? Already I need to get busy blocking out next year's calendar for times I want to be away. Also, have you given any thought to whether there are particular shows that you think would be good "growing experiences"? (As opposed to the qualifying sorts of things the upper level (including yourself) riders need.) --Annie

Quin, great topic!

I made pennies once before at a previous farm we owned... We used a canvas like fabric, bias binding, and sew-on felt numbers. You are so industrious! We could definitely do what you suggested... --Megan |
